Saudi, UAE ink deal to set up coordination council

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates signed on Monday a protocol to establish the Saudi-UAE Coordination Council.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of King Salman and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the Armed Forces of UAE at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.
Dr. Nizar Madani, minister of state for foreign affairs, signed the deal for Saudi Arabia while Ali Bin Mohammed Al-Shamsi, deputy secretary general of the Supreme Council for Security, signed representing the UAE. The signing ceremony was also attended by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior; Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and advisor to the king; Ibrahim Al-Assaf, minister of finance; Adel Al-Turaifi, minister of culture and information, and several other high ranking officials from both sides.
Earlier, King Salman received Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed at his palace. During the meeting, they reviewed the close bilateral relations between the two countries and agreed to further enhance cooperation in various fields. They also discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.
