U.S. Central Command announced Monday that it launched 25 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria over the past 24 hours, Al-Hayat newspaper reported. The command said that its warplanes conducted 16 airstrikes on IS sites in Iraq, destroying 10 tactical units, 20 rockets, a hideout and weapons storage. It added that the other nine airstrikes were carried out on IS sites in Syria, destroying six tactical units, six fighting positions, four vehicles, an improvised explosive device and other targets. The coalition has launched its war against IS positions in August 2014.
