The council board of Press Syndicate will hold a meeting of the general assembly on Wednesday, in response to the attack of police on the syndicate's headquarter took place on Sunday, al-Bawaba news reported. The police forces arrested two journalists, Amr Badr and Mahmoud el-Sakka, who were staging a sit-in inside the syndicate, protesting arbitrary arrest against journalists and activists by the police. The council board called on all journalists to mobilize at the syndicate, to express their protest against the violations of the police. Meanwhile security forces set up a security cordon around the Journalists Syndicate headquarters in downtown Cairo on Monday, among exchanging accusations between the syndicate and interior ministry of violating the law. Earlier Monday, the head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, Yehya Qalash declared his refusal to meet with the interior ministry leaders, until the resignation of Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar.
