Press Syndicate head Yehia Qalash announced that the council will hold an emergency general assembly meeting on Wednesday to discuss the storming the syndicate headquarter on Sunday, al-Masry al-Youm News reported. Qalash described the storming as an "aggression" by security forces on freedom of speech and an assault against the dignity of Egyptian journalists. Wednesday's general assembly meeting will address further measures to protest the police storming, calling on all newspapers to black out the front page of their Tuesday's issues in protest of the incident. "The aggression violated the law and constitution, it's a shameful act that won't be erased unless the interior minister resigned," Qalash said in press conference Monday. The syndicate's council called on other syndicates to take an action towards the incident, in order to prevent any potential acts against unionism.
