Port Said Criminal Court on Saturday sentenced 20 defendants to life in prison, 12 to 10 years, and 18 others to 5 years over accusations of storming the Port Said prison in 2013, Al-Bawaba News reported. The court obliged the convicts to pay the cost of the properties they damaged. The convicts were charged with killing 42 persons, including police personnel, inciting violence against civilians, possessing unlicensed weapons, as well as threatening the safety and unity of the society in January 26, 27 and 28, 2013. In January 2013, the convicts allegedly attempted to storm the Port Said prison, following the death sentence against convicts of the Port Said Stadium Massacre.
