Algeria has officially informed Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that it will support Ahmed Aboul-Gheit's candidacy for the position of Arab League (AL) secretary-general in 2016, Youm7 news reported Wednesday. During their meeting in Cairo Wednesday, Algerian Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and the Arab League, Abdel Kader Mesahel, told Sameh Shoukry that Algeria upholds Egypt's nomination of Aboul-Gheit. Shoukry expressed Egypt's appreciation to Algeria's decision, affirming the depth of relations between the two countries and their peoples. The meeting addressed the vital issues in the region, including the situation in Libya and Syria.
