Egyptian MP Abdel Rehim Ali denounced his colleague Tawfik Okasha's meeting with Israeli Ambassador to Cairo Haim Koren in his residence, Al-Bawaba News reported Thursday. "It is an irrational attitude for Okasha to demean Egyptians who rejects normalization with Israel," Ali said, adding that Okasha should have considered his post in the parliament as a representative of the people. After the visit, Egyptian political and media circles criticized the incident. The meeting outraged many Egyptian MPs who claimed that Okasha infringed on the declared policy of the Egyptian parliament which opposes normalization with Israel. Two MPs submitted a request to Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel-Al to cancel Okasha's membership in parliament.
