Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi met on Tuesday with Libyan parliament speaker Akila Saleh who is currently visiting Egypt to boost bilateral relations, Al Bawaba News reported. Sisi stressed on Egypt's support for the political process in Libya under the United Nations auspices and efforts to form a government of national reconciliation, pointing out to Egypt's keenness to provide all forms of assistance to Libya state institutions in order to perform its tasks in establishing the foundations of security and stability, and preserving the unity of the Libyan territory, Presidential Spokesperson Alaa Youssef said. The President also discussed with Saleh the recent political developments in Libya, stressing on the importance of creating an appropriate political atmosphere to enhance security to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people. Mr.Sisi also stressed on the importance of lifting the ban on supplying arms to the Libyan army, and to provide the necessary support for confronting the threat of escalating terrorism in Libya, Youssef added. Meanwhile, Saleh praised Egypt's efforts to promote peace and stability in Libya, expressing his eagerness to communicate and coordinate with the Egyptian side in order to push forward the political process in Libya.
