The tripartite committee of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) will conclude its meetings on Tuesday, in preparation to submit its report to the irrigation ministers of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia during their meeting that will be held on Wednesday in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, Aswat Masriya news reported. The committee held its 10th meeting on Sunday, in order to discuss the technical and financial offers submitted by 2 French consultant corporates, that proposed to make studies about the impacts of GERD on downstream countries, Egypt and Sudan. The three countries are supposed to contract to with the French corporates by mid-February at most. The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, that is scheduled to be completed in 2017, will beAfrica's largest hydroelectric power plant with a storage capacity of 74 billion cubic metres of water. Egypt has repeatedly expressed concerns that filling and operating the dam on the Blue Nile will negatively affect its water supply. However, Ethiopia has consistently rejected the claims.
