Cairo Criminal sentenced 4 defendants to 5 years in prison, 3 years to 6 others, and 1 year to 1 female student of Al-Azhar University on Tuesday, over the violence incidents that took place on campus in December 2013, Al Bawaba News reported. The court fined the 11 convicts to EGP 2 million and 160 thousand, over accusations of inciting violence, deliberated sabotage of public institutions inside the campus, threatening the state officials and university staff through the riots witnessed in the university in December 2013. Violence broke out at the campus of Al-Azhar University, between the pro-Morsi students and security forces, following the dispersal of Rabaa and Nahda sit-ins in August 2013.
