No Bomb on Berlin-Egypt Flight Diverted to Hungary
Hungarian police said Monday no explosives have been found aboard an Egypt-bound plane that made an unscheduled landing in Hungary because of a bomb threat.
Police spokeswoman Viktoria Csiszer-Kovacs told The Associated Press on Monday that "no explosives or explosive devices" were found on the plane, which took off from Berlin and was heading to the Egyptian beach resort of Hurghada.
Germany's Condor Airlines said its flight DE490 "made an unscheduled diversion to Budapest" after an "unspecific threat made by phone."
The plane was escorted into Hungarian airspace by a pair of fighter jets of the Hungarian Air Force, the Defense Ministry said, and landed at Liszt Ferenc Airport shortly before noon local time (1100 GMT) Monday.

Israel Counts on Egypt Ties to Overcome $1.7 Billion Gas Hurdle
Israel is banking on its "close ties" with Egypt to help restart gas export talks, Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said, following an Egyptian decision to halt negotiations. Israel is also planning to advance exports to other markets including Jordan, Turkey and Western Europe, he said.
"The State of Israel assigns great importance to its security and energy ties with Egypt in their entirety, and hopes that due to its close bilateral ties, it will be possible to continue to move forward on the gas issue soon," Steinitz said on Monday. Israel must develop its offshore gas fields quickly to achieve energy security, he said.
