Russian President arrives in Antalya for G20 summit
Published in Albawaba on 15 - 11 - 2015

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Antalya (Turkey) for a 2 day Group of 20 summit. President's schedule also includes a number of bilateral meetings.
Counter-terrorism efforts have been announced as one of the main issues on agenda of the 1st day of the summit, all the more so as it has become even more challenging after the recent terror attacks in Paris.
Right before G20 talks President Putin will participate in the informal meeting of the leaders of BRICS member-states (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa). According to Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, various issues related to G20 summit agenda, as well as implementation of decisions made during BRICS summit in Ufa this summer, will be discussed there.
The 1st day of the summit will start with events focusing on global warming, economic issues, the problem of attracting investment, growth strategy and tackling unemployment.
The fight against terrorism and the problem of refugees are on agenda of the working dinner of the G20 leaders later on Sunday. A separate statement is expected to be adopted after the discussion while decisions related to migration are expected to be reflected in the final communique of the summit, the Russian Sherpa at G20 Svetlana Lukash said earlier.
Russian President plans 4 separate meetings "on the sidelines" of the summit later on Sunday - with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The meetings will be focused on international problems, including the situations over Syria and Ukraine as well as bilateral relations. According to Ushakov, the issue of Ukraine's debt worth $3 bln to Russia will be on agenda at the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Christine Lagarde.
The IMF reform as well as issues related to international trade and energy are planned to be discussed on the 2nd day of the G20 summit in Antalya. President Putin will also have bilateral meetings with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, British Prime Minister David Cameron and Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud.
As Yuri Ushakov reported earlier no formal meeting has been planned between Russian President Putin and U.S. President Obama but some contacts may take place over the summit.
