Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has ordered a fact-finding committee to be formed for investigations into a civilian Russian plane crash in the north of Sinai earlier on Saturday, high-level officials said. The committee will include Egypt's PM Sherif Ismael, Minister of Civil Aviation, civil aviation experts as well as a team from Air Forces, officials added. Ismael is due to provide Sisi with a detailed report on the reasons of the accident and the final results of the investigations. The officials also indicated Russian Transport Minister, accompanied by investigators, would reach Egypt within hours to attend investigations into the crash. Earlier on Saturday, Ismael met with a number of ministers and officials to follow up the latest developments on the civilian plane crash in the Sinai Peninsula, spokesperson for the Egyptian cabinet, Hossam Gaweesh said. Ismael has cancelled an official visit to the eastern province of Ismailia following media reports on the crash. He has also ordered an operation room to be formed to follow up the repercussions of the accident. Medical sources said emergency state was raised in all the peninsula's hospitals.
