Chinese president Xi Jinping met Wednesday Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at the headquarters of the Great Hall of the people in the attendance of delegations from the two sides, al-Bawaba News reported. Sisi's visit comes within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries, according to Egyptian high level officials. During the visit, the Egyptian army has participated in the Chinese celebrations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the end of the World War II. Egypt's presidential spokesperson Alaa Yussef said that Mr. Jinping had commended the economic and political breakthrough achieved through President Sisi's initial year in power as well as the promotion of Egypt's status on regional and international levels. Mr. Jinping added there was coordination between the two sides, particularly in the field of productive energy as well as cooperation in international affairs, the spokesperson added. Sisi has expressed desires Mr. Jinping will be able to visit Egypt in the near future to push bilateral cooperation forward, welcoming the Chinese investments in Egypt, particularly in the economic zone related to the New Suez Canal area.
