Muslim Brotherhood (MB) protesting marches and violent statements were unexpectedly absent on the third anniversary of the Republican Guard events, Al Bawaba News reported Wednesday. The group's official websites, including the portal of Freedom and Justice Party, did not issue terrorist statements either, according to observers. Only the group's spokesperson Mohamed Montasar, fugitive overseas, claimed President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and his regime were in charge of the bloody events, calling on the MB affiliates to seek revenge. "We will never forget the liberals who were killed at Al Fajr (dawn) prayer," Montasar said in a tweet. On July 8, 2013, bloody clashes erupted near the Cairo-based Republican Guard Headquarters between police forces and MB assailants, leaving a lot of casualties. Unofficial MB webpages reposted photos and videos of the events. Local observers, including MB dissidents, said the third anniversary of the events may have witnessed a huge terrorist attack. The MB group was listed as terrorist in Sept. 2013 following a string of deadly blasts against security personnel and civilians, mostly in the restive Sinai Peninsula.
