Qasr Al Nil court acquitted Saturday 17 defendants charged with violating the Protest law, inciting violence and rioting in Talaat Harb square which resulted in the murder of activist Shamiaa Al Shabagh, Al Bawaba News reported. The public prosecutor had accused members of the Popular Alliance Party of organizing an unauthorized demonstration and threatening the country's security after they protested in Cairo's Talaat Harb square in on the fourth anniversary of the January 25 Revolution. Unlicensed protesting is considered illegal in Egypt according to a Protest Law issued in Sep. 2013 by the Egyptian interim authorities following a series of deadly blasts.
