The extremist ideas adopted by the Jihadists pose serious threat against the whole world, Azhar's Grand Imam Ahmed Al Tayeb said. The statement came during the meeting between Egypt's top Islamic cleric and Austria's Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz in Azhar Sheikhdom on Wednesday. Tayeb praised the visit of the Austrian official, saying, "Such visits support the contacts between the major Sunni institution in the Islamic world and Austria." The Grand Imam stressed that his institution cautioned of the extremist groups that use Islam as a cover for their illegal activities. He clarified that Azhar established an electronic observatory to monitor the violations committed by the Islamic State (IS). On the other hand, the Austrian official stressed the need for Azhar's role to immunize the Austrian young people against the ideas promoted by the extremist groups and to convince them not to join IS. He signaled that over six thousand Europeans joined the extremist group during the recent years.
