A series of explosions rocked different places in Nile Delta Sharqia province and Giza early Thursday. Residents cringed in fear of a major attack by Islamist militants. No injuries have been reported. In Sharqia, Chief of Security, Maj. General Melegy Fattouh received a report from Chief of Criminal Investigation Maj. General Refaat Kheidr regarding an explosion near the district court in Abu Kebeer. This explosion has caused minor damage to its first and second floor windows. Another bomb blew up at a Mobinil branch in Manial district, Giza province just 70m away from a police station and caused no injuries per security sources. The source added that an improvised explosive device was detonated in front of the Mobinil branch causing a strong sound and some store damage. The vicinity of the explosion was sealed off by police barricade, as the bomb disposal squad and civil security forces scanned the area for any other potential threat and evidence, according to the source. Egypt in recent months has seen a wave of militant attacks, including IEDs, bombs, and shootings. Most target police and army sites but civilians have also been killed and injured due to this violence.
