President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi issued a new decree concerning an anti-terrorism law, a move announced in the official gazette Tuesday, according to Al Bawaba News. Under the mechanism of the law, public prosecutors ask a criminal court to list suspects as terrorists and start a trial. A special committee within the court of Cassation would be responsible for the designation of suspects or organizations as terrorist. According to the new law, any organization or individual cannot be labeled as terrorist more than three years. The defendant and general prosecution have the right to appeal the decision within two months. Any group designated as terrorist would be dissolved, the law stipulates.
