Military sources told Al Bawaba News that the air force carried out an airstrike Friday on a communications center belonging to Egypt's branch of the Islamic state (IS), Wilayet Sinai. North Sinai Security authorities received reports of a communications center south of Sheikh Zuweid which was using a transmitter and communications devices stolen from the Karm Al Kawadis military checkpoint and a nearby ambulance station.
"Ten other communication centers have been located in Sheikh Zuweid, Rafah and Arish, and they will be destroyed as well," sources said.
Investigations have revealed that Wilayet Sinai depends on a network of spotters to alert them of military operations via radio. The group's technicians attempt to spy on communications between military troops.
