Harith al-Nadhari, the purported spiritual leader of Al-Qaeda's Yemeni branch, was killed by a US drone strike in Yemen, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) said on Twitter Thursday. The statement read that Nadhari and three other militants were killed on 30 January after a U.S. drone targeted their car in the Saeed area of Shabwa province in southern Yemen. Nadhari, AQAP's legitimacy committee member, had supported the attacks on the French magazine Charlie Hebdo for which his group had claimed responsibility and had threatened France with further attacks.
