Meteorologists said this winter in Egypt will be the coldest on record for over a hundred years, with reports of low temperatures ranging between 5 and 11 degrees Celsius across the country. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority expects Egypt will be exposed to stormy weather starting Tuesday. There are also warnings of ground frost on farmlands in the northern part of Upper Egypt and central Sinai around the clock, spokesperson of the authority, Waheed Saudi, said on a phone call to CBC Extra TV channel. Saudi added that the capital and a number of other governorates will witness heavy rains, expected to escalate into floods in some regions of the Sinai Peninsula. Both the Mediterranean and Red Sea will be hit by high winds, waves are expected to range between 4 – 5 meters in both seas, the authority stated. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority advised people to wear warm clothes and avoid activities by the Mediterranean Sea.
