Egyptian Armed Forces started on Wednesday the destruction of homes in North Sinai after evacuating the residents along the Egyptian-Palestinian borders in Rafah, according to Reuters. Abdel Fattah Harhor, the governor of North Sinai said that 802 houses were evacuated in the city of Rafah, adding that 65 percent of the residents agreed on financial compensation. He explained that 29 percent of residents agreed on receiving alternative land in the region of medicinal plants in Rafah. Harhor pointed out that each family will be given 300 EGP to rent temporary house for 3 months. The governor stressed that 78 houses will be excluded from the compensation agreement because they have illegal tunnels. Egyptian army conducted several airstrikes using apache helicopters against militants' bastions in the Sinai Peninsula. The Egyptian airstrikes in Arish and Sheikh Zuwaid in North Sinai destroyed several militant units and vehicles as well as a number of Weapons and ammunition stores of the Takfiri groups who attack security and military forces in Sinai. The North Sinai witnesses intensified security measures to protect public and private properties after the terrorist attacks that occurred last Friday targeting a military checkpoint, killed 31 soldiers and injured many others.
