President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will meet Wednesday President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang to discuss bilateral relations between the two African nations as both leaders seek to expand and strengthen ties. The meeting, to be held at Ittihdiya presidential palace, is intended to focus largely on strengthening sustainable development, investment and integration between the two countries. Sisi first met Obiang last June during his participation at the African Union summit in Equatorial Guinean capital Malabo. Sisi's visit was the first Egyptian activity in the AU since the Peace and Security Council (PSC) lifted Egypt's membership suspension, in place since former president Morsi's ouster July 2013. Equatorial Guinea is one of the largest oil-producers in sub-Saharan Africa with a small population. Its Gross Domestic Product per capita is on par with Saudi Arabia's and higher than Portugal's, but socioeconomic conditions are worse than in many African countries with far fewer resources.
