“Al-Masry Al-Youm — Interferences with a Journal,” an exhibition by Hisham Al-Zeiny. Mashrabia has selected a group of mixed-media collages that originally appeared on the pages of Al-Masry Al-Youm, one of the most popular newspapers in Egypt. The title puns on a reflection on contemporary Egypt, while examining the role of the traditional media at a crucial time in Egyptian history. Images of football players overlap and mix with articles and news about politics, economy and culture, metaphorically addressing the need for dynamism and change called for by liberal youth (17 January-10 March).
