The Egyptian national football team ensured that complacency did not take any part in their performance as they thrashed Chad in the second leg of the World Cup qualifier 4-0, all scored in the first half.
After losing the first leg by a single goal in Chad on Saturday, the Egyptian fans feared the worst before the second leg on Tuesday but their fears were quickly dispelled as Hector Cuper's men scored two times in the first 10 minutes to put Egypt into the final of the as yet undetermined final qualifying group, much to the shock of the Chadian players who failed to respond and conceded another two goals in the remainder of the first half.
Basel star Mohamed Al-Nenni scored a brilliant goal in the fifth minute after he met Omar Gaber's cross with a fierce shot that flew over the keeper's head to ease the pressure on our players. There was no stopping them as another superb cross by the outstanding Mustafa Fathi was converted home by AbdullahAl-Said's bullet header in the 10th minute which completely shocked the Chadian side who just couldn't cope with the likes of Fathi, Gaber and captain on the night Hossam Ghali.
The 36th minute saw Braga star Ahmed Hassan Kouka score with a brilliant header from another splendid cross from Al-Said to make the score 3-0. Kouka didn't really seem satisfied with just one strike on the night and scored another fine header from Sabri Raheel's cross to completely kill the game for the Chadian side which conceded four goals from four crosses on the night.
The Egyptian fans who were present at Borg Al-Arab Stadium hoped to see the national side add a few more goals to the score line in the second half but the players missed chance after chance as they knew they got the job done in the first half.
The starting lineup of the game saw four changes from the first leg as Fathi, Ghali, Saad Samir and Al-Said came into the side with all four of them impressing big time, especially Fathi who tormented the opponents defenders every time he had the ball at his feet.
Al-Said managed to score his first international goal and provided an assist for Kouka while Ghali played an absolutely brilliant game in the middle of the park and showed tremendous quality in his passing and composure.
Samir and the fellow defenders had a very easy game at the back as the mediocre opponents failed to even come close to the box throughout the 90 minutes. Argentine Cuper hailed his troops after the game but had special words of praise for the upcoming star and man of the match Fathi who did everything in football except score.
The result means that Egyptis going to the final round of the World Cup where the top teams of five groupsqualify to the global event directly.
