At the end of the preliminary round, Egypt's volleyball team was ahead of Pool A with eight points in the 2015 Men's African Nations Volleyball Championship hosted at Cairo Stadium's indoor halls. Algeria are in second place with seven points while Kenya ranked third with three points and Botswana in fourth. In order to top Pool A, Egypt overcame Algeria 3-2 (24-26, 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 15-10). It also topped Botswana 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-10) and Kenya in the opener by the same 3-0 score (25-19, 25-14, 25-18). “I am very satisfied with the team's performance,” Nehad Shehata, Egypt's coach, said. “The players are doing their best and we are fighting to represent the African continent in the World Cup since we have always been the champions.” Shehata added that right now, the team was in its best form and its performance in the international league competition was proof. “We overcame top teams like Italy and Greece. I think we will qualify.” Tunisia lead Pool B with 10 points followed by Morocco in second place with nine points while Cameroon are in third place with eight points. Rwanda are in fourth place with three points and Mauritius in fifth with no points. The two African finalists, first and second place winners, in the African Championship will qualify directly to the 2015 FIVB Men's World Cup to be held in Japan from 8-23 September.
