Thur 5, 8pm: Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Al-Tanboura troupe from Port-Said will be sharing the stage with Al Ma'alm Reda Zine band from Morocco, presenting the traditional Gnawa music, a rich repertoire of ancient African - Arabian spiritual songs.
Playing traditional instruments, simsimia, tanbura (big lyre), nay (reed flute), tabla (vaseshaped drum), triangle, sagat (small cymbals), shakhalil (kind of castanets) and riqq (a kind of tambourine), El Tanbura presents a unique mixture of Sufi songs (El Dammah),
fishermen and sailors' songs, bambouteya from the Canal Zone area, as well as songs of the Egyptian resistance.
Tue 10, 7pm: A singing recital by Nagwan.
Thur 12, 7pm: Percussionist Nesma Abdel-Aziz plays on marimba compositions by the likes of Omar Khayrat and Gamal Salama.
