♣ The 1st of December this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Cairo Declaration; the declaration developed ideas from the 1941 Atlantic Charter, which was issued by the Allies of World War II to set goals for the post-war order. It was issued in 1943 after the Cairo Conference between Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and the then Chinese leader Chiang Kai-shek took place. On this occasion, Ambassador of South Korea in Egypt Yung-So Kim held an international conference at the Mena House Oberoi Hotel featuring Korean and Egyptian experts. Among the attendees were Cairo Governor Galal Mustafa, Fayoum Governor Hazem Attiyat-Allah, head of the Egyptian-Korean Friendship Society General Sameh Seif Al-Yazal, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Ahmed Ismail and President of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs Mohamed Shaker.
