Wall in Alexandria collapses killing 6 and injuring 7 A wall surrounding a shopping mall has collapsed Thursday in the city of Alexandria killing six people and critically injuring seven others
A cement wall surrounding a group of commercial shops has collapsed Thursday in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria killing six and injuring seven critically, Al Ahram Arabic news website reported. Maj. Gen. Nasser El-Abd, head of Alexandria's investigation authority, said the collapse was not caused by a criminal activity or a bomb but rather structural renovation of the fence. The wall collapsed on people who were sitting in a café that adjoins a shopping mall in Sumouha, eastern Alexandria. It's not uncommon that buildings fall down in the port city, due to several factors, including age, illegal expansions and corruption. In January of last year, some 24 died and 11 others were injured after a building collapsed in Al-Maamoura district. A similar collapse in July 2012 killed at least nine people, and in October that year, another four were killed. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/96606.aspx
