Ahly coach praises players for Maghreb de Fes win Mohamed Youssef says victory over Maghreb de Fes in Sunday's friendly was good preparation for Club World Cup
Ahly coach Mohamed Youssef has praised his players for Sunday's 2-1 victory over Moroccan side Maghreb de Fes on Sunday. "I managed to try all the players during the friendly. I decided to give each player 45 minutes," Youssef was quoted as saying on Ahly's official website after the game. "I thank Maghreb de Fes' management and coaching staff for playing the friendly." "I hope the players perform well during the Club World Cup to honour Egyptian and Arab football," he added. Veteran playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika made a brilliant pass for striker Emad Meteb to open the scoring on 33 minutes. Abou-Treika doubled the lead five minutes before the break. African champions Ahly will start their World Club Cup campaign on 14 December against Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande of China. The winner will face European champions Bayern Munich in the semifinal on 17 December. Ahly's best showing was third in the 2006 tournament in Japan.
