Orlando Pirates in Egypt for Africa Champions League final The South African team will train at the Arab Contractors' Stadium ahead of Sunday's CAF Champions League final against title-holders Ahly
South Africa champions Orlando Pirates arrived in Cairo Thursday for the second-leg of the CAF Champions League final against Egypt's Ahly, scheduled for Sunday at the Arab Contractors' Stadium. The Pirates' 38-man delegation announced the team would train Friday in order to familiarise itself with the arena, while the Cairo-based club will finalise trainings Saturday. To the fans' pleasant surprise, Egyptian authorities have allowed public attendance to the match and closing ceremony after a months-long ban driven by security concerns had kept previous matches behind closed doors. After Ahly drew 1-1 away in Johannesburg last week, the South African club are bidding for their second title -- their first was in 1995 -- while the title holders are bidding for their eighth. Ahly made it to the final by eliminating Cameroon's Coton Sport in the semi-final while Orlando eased through after beating Esperance of Tunisia. The two teams had also met in the group stage, with the Egyptians earning a goalless draw in Johannesburg and the Pirates winning 3-0 in the Red Sea resort of Al-Gouna.
