Morsi transported to court at police academy Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsi transported to court on first day of the trial of the deposed president
Ousted president Mohamed Morsi has been transported to court at the police academy early Monday, reported the Ahram Arabic website. Morsi, who was ousted on 3 July after massive protests against his rule, alongside 14 other senior Islamists and Muslim Brotherhood figures are to begin their trial on charges of inciting violence. Morsi is charged with incitement of murder and violence in the December 2012 Ittihadiya presidential palace clashes. At least eight died in the Ittihadiya clashes, which broke out after pro-Morsi protesters attacked a sit-in held by his opponents. Morsi's arrival to court comes earlier than expected amid security concerns over possible violent escalation from his supporters. The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, a coalition backing deposed president Mohamed Morsi, reiterated on Sunday their call for supporters to rally at the court on Monday. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/85548.aspx
