Court sets 5 October for case demanding re-airing of closed Islamist channels Egypt court to consider restoring controversial Islamist TV channels, off air since 3 July
Egypt's Administrative Court has set 5 October to examine the case concerning the re-airing of Al-Nas, Al-Hafez and Al-Khalijia Channels after they were closed during the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July. As Defence Minister Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi announced Morsi's removal from office, a handful of Islamist channels – including the Muslim Brotherhood's Misr 25, Al-Hafez and Al-Nas TV channels – were abruptly taken off air. The channels had sparked controversy in the past, with critics accusing them of employing "hate speech" against Christians, Shia-Muslims and secular opposition figures. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/79794.aspx
