Egypt's dissolved Shura Council to convene at Rabaa Al-Adawiya Dismantled Shura Council will hold session on Monday in defiance of its dissolution by Egyptian military's roadmap
Members of Egypt's dissolved Shura Council, the upper house of parliament, have decided to hold a session of the dissolved body on Monday at Rabaa Al-Adawiya Mosque in Nasr City, which is also the location of a mass sit-in by supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi. The Shura Council was dismantled as part of the armed forces' roadmap for Egypt, which saw former president Mohamed Morsi ousted and the 2012 constitution frozen on 3 July following mass nationwide protests against Morsi's government. The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, which held the majority in the Shura Council, said in a press release that the council would convene at 2pm on 22 July “for its first legal session after the bloody coup d'état." The streets surrounding Rabaa Al-Adawiya Mosque have been the site of a massive pro-Morsi sit-in ongoing since 28 June. Morsi's proponents have been protesting on a daily basis since his ouster, demanding his reinstatement. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/77049.aspx
