Newcastle's Cisse , coach Pardew underline 'mutual respect' Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse and coach Alain Pardew play down Cisse's angry reaction after being substituted against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday
Newcastle' Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse said on Wednesday he respects his coach and his decisions after angrily reacting to his substitution the team's 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League on Saturday. The 27-year-old expressed his displeasure after coacn Alain Pardew replaced him with Shola Ameobi in the second half while the score was 0-0 and Cisse declined to acknowledge his manager on his way to the dugout. Ameobi scored a precious goal that ended a poor run of only one victory for Newcastle in seven games. "Sometimes frustration is bad. I respect my manager and his decisions. Great win for the club and let's hope we can do the same in the next two big games," Cisse was quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Wednesday. Pardew said he understands the reasons for the anger of Cisse, who is keen to rediscover goal-scoring touch. Cisse shone in the Premier League in the second-half of last season, scoring 13 goals in 14 appearances after joining from German side Freiburg last January. However, he is struggling this term, having scored just four goals in 22 games. "Papiss just wants to play well," Pardew said. "He loves Newcastle and the fans love him. That showed in his and their reaction when he was subbed. I have no problem with that. It's not a bad thing, it's a good thing." "He knows he has the love of the fans on his side, although he has had a disappointing time. "But he is a goal-scorer. When you look at him in training, we are a little bit perplexed as to why he is not scoring goals. He had three good chances on Saturday but I confidently predict Papiss will score more goals in the second half of the season," he added
