Ahly's banned Abou-Treika joins Egypt squad for UAE camp
Despite serving club ban, veteran playmaker Abou-Treika joins Pharaohs squad for friendly matches in UAE
Published in Ahram Online on 26 - 09 - 2012

Ahly playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika has been called up to Egypt's squad for two friendly games against Congo and Tunisia on 12 and 16 October in the UAE.
The Red Devils star is serving a two-month ban and was fined for skipping the team's Super Cup game against ENPPI to stand by Ahly's hardcore supporters (Ultras Ahlawy), who object to the resumption of domestic football activity until the perpetrators of an attack on fans in Port Said are brought to justice.
The Pharaohs' last clash with Congo – in March in Qatar – ended in a goalless draw.
Egypt is not slated to play any competitive games until next year, when they will host Zimbabwe in their third Group G World Cup qualifying match in March. Egypt are currently top of the group with six points in two games after beating Mozambique and Guinea.
Egypt's 28-man squad:
Goalkeepers: Essam El-Hadary (Merreikh); Sherif Ekramy (Ahly) and Ahmed El-Shennawey (Zamalek)
Defenders: Ahmed Hegazy (Fiorentina); Adam El Abd: (Brighton); Mohamed Abdel-Shafy (Zamalek); Omar Gaber (Zamalek); Basem Aly (Arab Contractors); Ahmed Said Okka (Lierse); Islam Ramadan (Haras El-Hodoud); Ahmed Fathi (Ahly)
Midfielders: Ahmed Elmohamady (Hull City); Mohamed Abou-Treika (Ahly); Hosni Abd-Rabou (Al Nasr); Hossam Ghaly (Ahly); Mohamed El-Nenny (Arab Contractors); Mohamed Salah (Basel); Hossam Ashour (Ahly); Shikabala (Al Wasl); Ibrahim Salah (Zamalek); Saleh Gomaa (ENPPI); Mohamed Ibrahim (Zamalek); Moahmed Nasef (ENNPI) and Walid Soliman (Ahly)
Strikers: Ahmed Hassan Mekky (Haras El-Hodoud); Amr Zaki (Elazigspor); Mohamed Nagy Gedo (Ahly) and Ahmed Temsah (Dakahliya)
