Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry participated on Tuesday in the opening of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) high-level segment in New York, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said on his Twitter account. On the fringe of his participation in the UNGA, Shoukry held separate meetings on Tuesday with his counterparts of Estonia, Tunisia, Rwanda and India. The top Egyptian diplomat discussed bilateral relations, issues of mutual concern and cooperation in the face of common challenges with the foreign ministers, according to Hafez. During his visit to the US, Shoukry is set to take part in several events to express Egypt's vision and stances towards the current issues in the region as well as means of supporting the pillars of peace and security at the international and regional levels. The foreign minister will also discuss mechanisms of reinforcing the multilateral action as regards the issues raised on the agenda of the UNGA high-level segment. Shoukry is also expected to meet with senior UN officials and other leaderships of the international and regional organizations.
