Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane believes his side executed his game plan to perfection as they claimed the Cairo derby bragging rights with a 2-1 victory over Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday. A first-half brace from Mohamed Sherif either side of a superb curling strike from Zamalek's Mahmoud Shikabala gave Ahly a deserved derby win. The Red Devils moved up to second in the league table with 30 points, three points behind leaders Zamalek, who played three matches more. "We controlled the game during the first 20 minutes," Mosimane told the post-match news conference. "We did what we wanted to do and scored." The South African coach was visibly upset at conceding Shikabala's goal, which was a carbon copy of his strike in Zamalek's 2-1 loss to Ahly in the African Champions League final last season. "We practiced on stopping Shikabala from scoring that way, but we failed. My only consolation is that Mohamed Sherif responded quickly with the winner," he added. Mosimane criticised Ahly's busy calendar this month, saying his side are feeling the ill-effects of the fixture congestion. "My team play a big number of games without rest. This is the reason of the numerous injuries we have. It is so difficult," he commented.
