Ultras Ahlawy protesters put on hold Parliament sit-in Ultras Ahlawy members, Ahly club's hardcore football fans, put on hold their sit-in after some of their demands were fulfilled
Hundred Ultras Ahlawy members, Ahly club's hardcore football fans, decided late on Sunday to put on hold their sit-in in front of the People's Assembly after some of their demands were fulfilled as the minister of justice promised to meet other outstanding issues soon. The Cairo club supporters, most of them are teenagers, embarked on the sit-in starting 25 March in front of the People's Assembly, demanding retribution for the Port Said football disaster that saw over 74 Ahly fans killed by groups who appeared to be rioting Masry supporters. One of their demands that has been already met was bringing forward the court session of the trial of the defendants accused of instigating the football disaster to 17 April. It was originally scheduled for June. Although they have already dismantled their tents, the Ultras Ahlawy members stressed that they would resume their sit-in should the trial lack transparency. The opening session of the trial is to be held at the Police Academy. A special jury is only commissioned to look into the trial, also upon the Ultras members' request.
