Zamalek go top after nervy win against Arab Contractors
Published in Ahram Online on 19 - 10 - 2019

Goals from Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi and Ahmed "Zizo El Sayed helped Zamalek to comeback from behind to beat Arab Contractors 1-0 on Saturday at El-Salam Stadium and go top of the Egyptian Premier League table.
With defending champions Ahly out of action due to the postponment of the Cairo derby clash, the Whites had the chance to move to the top with 10 points after four games.
The visitors had a stunning start of the game as Mohamed Salem scored in an empty net in the 12th minute following a blunder from Zamalek's keeper Mohamed Awaad who failed to clear a cross from Seifeddin Jaziri.
It took the Whites only two minutes to react as an unmarked Sassi in the box headed home a corner from Zizo to level the score in the 14th minute.
Zamalek could make their 69% possession count as Zizo put them in the lead with a screamer from outside the box which the Contractors' keeper barely touch before settling in the net in the 34th minute.
The second half witnessed no goals but plenty of drama. Zamalek seemed more cautious while Arab Contractors attacked en masse in an attempt to grab the equalizer.
Referee Mohamed El-Bana had to wave his yellow card on six occasions, four of them to Arab Contractors players, while Tunisian duo Ferjani Sassi and Seifeddin Jaziri received their marching orders on 84 and 90 minutes respectively for rough challenges.
Zamalek sat back in their final third in the final minutes to protect their lead and a crucial victory following their latest struggle against FC Masr in the previous matchday.
