Zamalek coach Christian Gross heaped praise on his side's performance in the 1-0 victory at Petro Atletico in the Confederation Cup but insisted they "have not yet qualified" for the quarters. The Cairo giants claimed a narrow win in Luanda to keep their hopes alive in the competition, thanks to a first-half goal from Moroccan winger Hamid Ahddad who opened his account with the team. Zamalek are third in their group with five points, just one point behind leaders Gor Mahia who face NA Hussein Dey in Algeria later in the day. "I thank the players for their efforts during the game," Gross told the post-match news conference on Sunday. "We were courageous despite the heat and the humidity but we managed to clinch three precious points." Despite the win, Gross said Zamalek remain in a "critical situation" in the group and warned his players that there is no room for errors in the coming two matches. "The win was very important but we have not qualified yet," Gross added. "We have to win our two remaining games as five points could not be sufficient to secure our place in the next round." Zamalek will host Kenyan side Gor Mahia on 17 March before heading to Algeria to NA Hussein Dey one week later.
