Egypt's, the world's largest wheat importer, has strategic reserves of wheat to cover four months of consumption, Supply and Internal Trade Minister Ali el-Moselhi said on Thursday. Egypt has sufficient sugar and cooking oil reserves for around three months, Moselhi added in a press conference, according to state news agency MENA. Egypt's wheat harvest ended in late June with a total of 3.15 million tonnes of the crop, one of the lowest tallies in years. The US Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) in Cairo had predicted that Egypt's wheat production in the marketing year 2018/19 (July-June) would reach 8.45 million metric tons, up 4.3 percent from the previous marketing year.
