Five talking points from this week's Egyptian League: Enppi revival under Galal, Zamalek's new recruit shines
Published in Ahram Online on 05 - 11 - 2017

Enppi revival under new manager
Enppi continued their revival under coach Ihab Galal, playing out a 1-1 draw with leaders Ismaily in an exciting game.
Galal's men are also unlucky not to have snatched all three points, having taken the lead and wasted some easy chances towards the end.
In-form striker Arafa El-Sayed put Enppi ahead in the 25th minute, blasting home a loose ball from inside the area after a far-post effort struck the post and fell into his path.
However, veteran midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou ensured Ismaily would preserve their unbeaten league start when he converted a penalty 10 minutes later.
Galal was the architect of Maqassa's stunning second-place finish last season and he has made an immediate impact after taking charge of Enppi, leading them to two straight wins and a draw.
Before his arrival, the club could only collect three points from their opening five matches.
Top scorer back in action
The Egyptian league's top scorer, Omar El-Said, marked his return from injury with his sixth goal this season despite El-Entag El-Harby's 3-1 defeat by Assiouty Sport.
He did so in style, controlling a long ball with his chest and knee near the halfway line, bamboozling his challenger and blasting home from 25 yards to net a consolation for El-Entag on the stroke of halftime.
El-Said, who missed El-Entag's 3-2 loss to Arab Contractors the previous match due to injury, is two goals clear of several players on top of the scorers' chart, including Maqassa's Ghanaian striker John Antwi and Ismaily's Colombian frontman Diego Calderon.
Media reports linked the 27-year-old with a move to league champions and Cairo giants Ahly.
Zamalek's Madbouli steals limelight
Exciting new talent Ahmed Madbouli stole the limelight with a well-taken double to give Zamalek their second successive 3-0 Egyptian Premier League win, this time at the expense of Petrojet.
Madbouli has caught the eyes with his feints, twists and turns since joining Zamalek from modest side Nasr Taadeen in the summer and he further established himself as a key player with a match winning display against Petrojet.
He made it 2-0 six minutes before the break, exchanging passes with Congolese lone striker Kasongo Kabongo, turning his marker inside out and placing a right-foot curler into the corner of the net.
Madbouli wrapped up the win in the 66th minute when Syrian left-back Moayad Ajan squared the ball to him, turning again inside the area to hold off his challenger before his shot deflected off a defender and lopped into the net.
He took his tally to three goals, having also found the net with a superb curling shot when Zamalek defeated Masry 2-1 in a tough clash in September.
Masry back to winning ways
Masry, one of the dark horses of last season, returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over Ittihad of Alexandria after a draw and defeat in their previous two matches.
In-form forward Ahmed Gomaa took his tally to four goals this season after netting the winner six minutes before halftime.
He was picked out unmarked by a right-wing cross to send a powerful header home and Masry made light of the dismissal of Mostafa Ali in the second half to claim all three points.
They leapfrogged Zamalek into second place with 16 points, one behind leaders Ismaily who have a game in hand.
First win for Maqassa
Maqassa were the surprise package last season, finishing runners-up to champions Ahly to earn a historic place in the African Champions league. However, they have endured a disastrous start to the season, failing to win in any of their first six matches.
The poor results led to the dismissal of coach Moemen Soliman and his successor, Emad Soliman, finally helped Maqassa claim their first win of the season after they defeated Alexandria-based club Smouha 2-0.
Burkinabe winger Eric Traore put Maqassa ahead in the 72nd minute and veteran midfielder Hani Said converted a penalty with eight minutes remaining to wrap up the much-needed win.
