Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny says he is fighting daily to repay the faith of his coach Arsene Wenger, insisting that he is happy for helping his 'home' Arsenal to win the English Premier League opener on Friday. The Pharaohs player provided the assist for Lacazette to score the opening goal in Arsenal's 4-3 win against Leicester City. He was substituted in the 67th minute. "Thanks to god for the result. The victory will give us a morale boost to continue our campaign successfully especially as the team didn't win in the league's opener for a long time," Elneny told beIN Sports TV channel after the match. "I am happy with helping my team to win; I do my best for my home (Arsenal). I am fighting to keep my place in the starting lineup," he added. The 25-year-old Elneny, who joined Arsenal in January 2016 from Swiss side Basel, struggled to play regular football with the Gunners last season, making 12 starts in all competitions. Earlier on August, Elneny said he would remain at the Emirates Stadium next season, ending speculation surrounding his future with the team. Elneny had a perfect start for the season after helping his side win the Community Shield following a 4-1 win over Chelsea on penalties 6 August. When he was asked Friday if he currently feels Wenger's confidence, Elneny replied: "That was obvious in the pre-season matches. I am fighting daily to prove for my coach that his confidence was right. I always work to improve myself."
