Ahly have completed the signing of Maqassa midfielder Hesham Mohamed on a five-year contract for their fourth summer acquisition, the Cairo giants announced on Tuesday. The deal will also see two Ahly players, Ghanaian striker John Antwi and winger Mido Gaber, head to Maqassa on season-long loan deals, Ahly said on their official website. Antwi has already spent last season on loan at Maqassa, scoring 11 goals in 20 Egyptian Premier League appearances. Gaber joined Ahly from Maqassa last year but could not hold down a regular place. Hesham Mohamed, a holding midfielder, was a key player of a Maqassa side who finished runners-up in the Premier League last season behind champions Ahly. He scored two goals and provided four assists for Maqassa in all competitions last term. Ahly did not disclose the transfer fee but media reports said they had paid Maqassa EGP 9 million. The Red Devils have also signed Moroccan forward Walid Azaro and Smouha's winger Islam Mohareb and left-back Ayman Ashraf so far this summer. The new arrivals could be registered in the team's squad for the African Champions League as the record eight-time winners seek to lift the trophy for the first time since 2013. They face Tunisia's Esperance in a mouthwatering two-legged quarter final in September.
