Family of fooball star Ronaldo in Egypt to attend opening of biggest water park in MENA

The family of Portuguese Real Madrid football star Cristiano Ronaldo is set to visit South Sinai's resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh on Friday to attend the inauguration of EL-Batros Aqua Park -- the largest water park in the region, according to business mogul Kamel Abo Aly.
According to a Tuesday press release by Abo Aly, Ronaldo's family will attend the opening of the project, which mainly includes a new hotel constructed on investments that exceed EGP 1 billion.
Abo Aly said that the aqua park covers 80,000 square metres.
The project, located in Sharm El-Sheikh's Hadabet Om El Sayed, was built on an area of 220,000 square metres and includes 650 hotel rooms.
The businessman, who is known for his hotel investments, said that the purpose of the Ronaldo family's visit is to promote Egyptian tourism, and affirm that Egypt is a safe country to visit. The footballer's family is followed by millions on social media.
Abo Aly said that his company will focus in the next period on inviting international celebrities to visit Egypt.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Portuguese family visited the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. They are set to visit the Giza Pyramids before heading to South Sinai.
News about an upcoming project next Ramadan, which would include the Portuguese football phenomenon himself, has been making the rounds in Egypt, with billboards across Cairo depicting Ronaldo with a group of children in a photo shoot.
Earlier in this month, Ronaldo posted a picture of himself with Egyptian businessman and "friend" Ahmed Abu Hashima, calling his 52 million followers “to stay tuned” for a “new project soon.”
Egypt has been striving to attract international celebrities in recent months to support its tourism sector, which has suffered in the wake of political turmoil in recent years.
Last month, Hollywood star Will Smith paid a visit to the Giza Plateau with his family, where they met with well-known archaeologist and former antiquities minister Zahi Hawass for a tour around the Sphinx and inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu.
In February, Barcelona star Lionel Messi visited Egypt for one day to promote the country's Tour n' Cure medical tourism campaign, which runs combined tourism and hepatitis C treatment travel packages for visitors with the condition.
