Egypt's foreign minister Sameh Shoukry discussed in a telephone call with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Thursday the latest developments in Syria, including ongoing ceasefire efforts, along with other regional developments, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement Thursday afternoon. Egypt will likely participate in a meeting in Geneva to enforce recent ceasefire arrangements brokered by the US and Russia and resume talks between Syrian groups, according to the foreign ministry statement. The Russian foreign ministry said thatthe two officials also discussed talks held earlier this week in Moscow between Lavrov and UN Secretary-General Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
