German organist Marie Sophie Goltz will give a concert at the German Protestant Church on Thursday 5 May, playing the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Max Reger. Marie Sophie Goltz is a well accomplished musician who began her piano studies at the age of five. She then embarked on further training in church music at the University of Music in Würzburg, Germany. In 2014 Marie Sophie Goltz continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, graduating with a bachelor's degree in church music with Martin Lücker (organ), Gerd Wachowski (organ improvisation) and GMD Uwe Sandner (orchestra conducting). The German Protestant Church in Boulaq was built in 1912 and was widely known for its historic organ. Although the famed organ fell silent years ago, the church was later restored in 2012 in tandem with the centennial celebration of the church's founding. Admission to the concert is free, although donations are welcomed. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the show. Programme: Thursday, 5 May, 7pm German Protestant Church, Galaa Street, Boulaq, Cairo (next to the Al-Ahram building) For more arts and culture news and updates, follow Ahram Online Arts and Culture on Twitter at@AhramOnlineArtsand on Facebook atAhram Online: Arts & Culture http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/206949.aspx
