Nine people were killed on Sunday when a vehicle transporting them overturned and caught fire, Egypt's ambulance authority said. The accident took place on a highway in a village in Beni Suef near the borders of the Upper Egyptian governorate of Minya. Nine people were killed when the blaze swept through the car. Two other passengers suffered third-degree burns. Egypt's state news agency MENA said eight ambulances were dispatched to the scene and that the victims were transported to hospital. Deadly road crashes take place on daily basis in Egypt which is notorious for poor road safety, badly maintained infrastructure, and loosely enforced traffic regulations.
